So Last weekend I got to work on one of the final scenes of a new horror movie coming out called ‘The Waters.’

Three computers techs are sent into New Orleans to retrieve the possible cure for a virus that has taken over the city. They soon realize they were actually brought in to cover it up. Now, they are being hunted by the colleagues they came in with and the infected civilians who control the city. With the assistance of a small military team, will they survive the night to expose the truth of The Waters?

As usual, it took longer than expected, but I was armed with my I-Pod and a Nintendo DSi to pass the time while waiting to get the snot beaten out of me over and over. Jack Harrison was the stunt coordinator for the scene and although we know each other’s work, we have never had the opportunity to work with each other. It this scene, the hero (Jake Moran) is to break my neck by grabbing me by my head and throwing me behind him. This really means we had to coordinate a sideways flip and his arm motions as well as fit it into the other fight choreography. We did the same scene over and over again from different angles and hand-helds to get it all right and it took a few hours from ‘go time.’ Jack was very detail attentive and a good coordinator. I hope to work with him again. I may be sore, but I didn’t get hurt and that’s always a good thing.

Look for it in 2010

I will be making a new batch of Cadaver Café Shirts to put on the website up for sale. How they are going to be made is still up in the air, but I will tell you that I’m excited about the possibilities.

I will have a few videos on make-up on the site soon that will cover the basics behind haunted house/hayride make-up. The goals behind these segments are not to make fantastical and elaborate prosthetics. It is intended to focus on creating memorable characters for pennies, with little or now talent, and do it in less than 15 minutes.

I have a few rainy days ahead of me, so I will try to get the videos uploaded with a ‘voice of God’ soundtrack to talk about what I’m doing and why I’m doing it.

As with anything else, my house is the last thing to get attention when setting up for Halloween. We threw this together in about 3 hours and built the FCG from scratch because for some reason, my old one is missing.

This is my first Halloween in this house and I always try to break my neighbors in before setting up anything big… It was good fun. It went up on Halloween and Came down the Next day. This was the ‘down and dirty’ setup of the house.

We couldn’t attach anything to the siding without making permanent holes, so I built a frame to hang everything on. It looked pretty well in the dark and took about 3 hours to set up. We had thunder and lightning, music by midnight Syndicate, a Flying Crank Ghost, strobes, black lights, floor lamps and a few other odds and ends

Thanks for everyone coming out to make Poplar grove Plantation’s Haunted House and Hayride a success and so much fun to put on. We’re done for the year but be sure to check back with us well before the start of the 2010 season. Perhaps you could be one of the minions? Plans are already in the works to revamp a lot of things on the trail. New theme…new scenes…new scares.

We had a good first weekend, albeit a bit chilly. The average temperature was 45 degrees. Not freezing by any standard, but for Wilmington, North Carolina in October, its down right cold.

People came out in droves, despite the weather and had a really good time. Here are some of the pictures we took while getting ready to go out on the trail and a few others of us while we were actually running the hayride. I’m not going to give away too much. I’m not into spoiling the surprises.

We have one more weekend to run which is this coming 23^rd, 24^th, and 25^th. Tickets are $8 each for the Haunted House and Haunted Hayride.

Ok… there has been a lot going on the past few weeks and we have not had time to make a new commercial for the Poplar Grove Halloween Festival, however, I have been meaning to assemble some of the ‘not so good’ takes we did on the shoot. I had a lot more than this but decided that people falling is much funnier than most everything else. We should be back on track with a new commercial next week and I hope it will be entertaining.
